1Military Style Jerry can  Mar 12, 2010
Pros: Sturdy can. The best of the worst.

CONS: A person should be able to expect a "Military" style fuel can to fit in the Military style fuel can carrier, made for years, by "Blitz". It DOES NOT.

The spout stinks on ice. Every time I have used this type of C.A.R.B. spout to fill small engines I have ended up with gasoline spilled all over. (That's great for the environment.) Before I even fill this can with gas, the CARB spout goes in the trash, and an after market nozzel goes on.

How can the fuzzy thinking Kalifornia Air Resourse Board (C.A.R.B.) set the LAW for other states. Who did this to us? Scepter does make very good Military Fuel cans (MFC) for the ARMY, but, they are not SUPPOSED to be sold in NJ. Another shot at the free market. But, everything is illeagal in New Jersey, you get over it. And soon, California will be part of Mexico.

1Very poor design.  Dec 14, 2009
I bought 2 of these Scepter Jeep Style cans thinking "higher price = better quality". I was very concerned with the spill proof (aka: CARB) spouts on the other cans I was considering. Ohhh - so wrong indeed. One can, the spout never worked. The other one, well, it worked for a few months, but required a lot of force to get the spill proof valve to open. Now, it too doesn't work.

So, . . . instead of paying 3x as much to avoid reliability issues versus the "cheap can" at the Blue or Orange big box store, . . . I am now out three times as much cash.

My bad. Manufacture doesn't appear to respond to EMAIL either. Do I blame the manufacturer or our own government for passing a stupid law that requires these CARB spill proof spouts? Both actually - we as humans like to get in our own way for safety at times. That said, if someone builds a product, they should make sure it works reliably. Oh wait - it still is a spill proof spout, . . . it works so well nothing comes out, no matter what you try.

3OK Gas Can  Oct 24, 2009
This is a ok gas can. It will NOT fit in a standard 5 gallon "Jerry can" holder like found on many military vehicles. Spout is clumsy, but all of the new ones are.

3Spout wears out in 1 year  Oct 11, 2009
I have 2 of these cans and the spout has stopped working after 1 year. The plastic or rubber components are not well made. And I cannot get a replacement.
NOTE: I did contact the company and they replaced the spouts. They are difficult to contact and it tool 2 separate mailings to get the spouts and screw on connectors, but they were replaced. So I am updating this comment to note that.
